For the third year running, the GDS-Index will bring together a panel of experts that will recognize the most innovative sustainability initiative.

Destinations will submit their applications by the end of October and the results will be announced at the ICCA Congress in Dubai in November so watch this space!
In addition to the Innovation Award, the GDS-Index team will announce the winners of the Leadership Award and Most Improved Award, based on the benchmarking results.
In 2016, Helsinki won the Innovation Award with its Greening Events Project, a creative joint venture with the cities of Espoo and Vantaa. The project aims to develop concrete ways to develop the environmental management in events in the metropolitan area.
Gothenburg received the 2017 Innovation Award for its pioneering “Got event” app which facilitates accessibility to cultural events. The app offers live visual interpretation during events, sign language interpretation of the arena sound during events, hearing loop alternative offers amplification of the arena sound, information such as how to get to the arena and how to get assistance on-site.
