The GDS-Movement 2022 Asia Pacific Forum

Goyang Convention Bureau and GDS-Movement partnered to present the GSD-Movement 2022 Asia Pacific Forum. This dynamic and interactive event was held in Goyang (Seoul), Korea, from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 August, as part of the annual Goyang Destination Week 2022 ‘International Destination Competitiveness Forum 2022’.

The forum invited Asia Pacific DMOs and CVBs, and attracted a range of destinations actively participating in positive change in thinking and acting at an institutional level.

“The forum provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange knowledge, share practices, discuss technologies, and collaborate collectively,”says Jessica Vandy. “It was incredibly inspiring to hear from so many destinations, of their approach to sustainability and regenerative destination management, and what the next steps for collaboration within the Asia Pacific region are.”

David Peacock at AP Forum at Goyang Destination Week 2022Here’s the inimitable David Peacock, who also hosts of the fantastic podcast, The Future of Tourism, and is a committee member, Destinations International, giving a keynote speech on stage.

Our thanks to Ryan George, CEO, Simpleview and to Dr. Peter Lee, Managing Director, GoyangCVB 고양컨벤션뷰로 for the support and opportunity to come together and collaborate for greater sustainability impact.

It was a privilege to collaborate with passionate professionals from profound organisations championing positive change in tourism and events.  Gatherings of good people united by a shared focus on strategic, long-term stewardship for mutual benefit are essential to the health and well-th of DMMOs and CVBs. For, as David puts it eloquently, it’s so important that we continue to support and nurture events like Goyang Destination Week;  they “unequivocally drive our industry forward”.

GDS-Movement’s senior sustainability consultant for the Asia Pacific region, Jessica Vandy, agrees. “The forum provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange knowledge, share practices, discuss technologies, and collaborate collectively, ” she explains. “It was incredibly inspiring to hear from so many destinations, their approach to sustainability and regenerative destination management, and what the next steps for collaboration in the AP region will be.”
