Ireland committed to sustainability with four new destinations joining the 2018 GDS-Index Benchmark!

After Dublin who joined the GDS-Index in 2017, we are thrilled to welcome the addition of Cork, Kerry, Shannon and Galway for the 2018 benchmark.

After Dublin who joined the GDS-Index in 2017, we are thrilled to welcome the addition of Cork, Kerry, Shannon and Galway for the 2018 benchmark.

Ireland is stepping up and embraces sustainability practices for their dynamic business tourism sector, ensuring their activities are taking good practices into consideration, and all four of the new entrants have their strengths:

Cork is a hub of learning and innovation, Kerry is attracting a lot of individual tourists, Galway’s creative spirit needs no introduction, and will be celebrated when the city becomes the European Capital of Culture in 2020 and the Shannon region is very strong in the medical sector.

Sam Johnston, Manager of Fáilte Ireland’s Dublin Convention Bureau comments:

‘I am delighted to see all the convention bureaux in Ireland now on the GDS-Index.  As a collective, with the support of our trade partners, under the Meet in Ireland brand we are striving to make a difference across our industry to make sustainable practices the norm.’
