Visit Bergen's ambition is to create a sustainable and profitable destination. The UN SDGs is the foundation of this strategy with special regards to goal no. 5: gender equality, goal no. 8: decent work and economic growth, goal no. 11: sustainable cities and communities, goal no. 12: responsible consumption and production and goal no 17: partnership. Visit Bergen will make Bergen a better place to live and a better place to visit.
Bergen is located in the western part of Norway and is the second-largest city in Norway, a World Heritage City. The city's ambition is to be fossil-free by 2030. This means that no oil, coal or gas is to be used transport or heating in buildings and that it should not other greenhouse gases are released in Bergen. By 2020, Bergen should have reversed the trend and reduced the direct greenhouse gas emissions by 30% compared to 1991. By 2050 Bergen to be a 1.5 degree-city. The goal is for the people of Bergen to limit their climate footprint in line with the UN climate agreement. Already Bergen is the electric car-capital of Norway with 13% of the cars being electric. Being surrounded by seven mountains makes the city a strikingly attractive and intimate and walkable destination, with a city light rail as a core in the city transport system.
