Goyang city is representative green city in Korea. In 2017, Goyang city achieved gold medal of 'Sustainable city part' in General Assembly of WeGo (The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO). With this reputation, goyang city make efforts to enlarge green area and converged environmental activities with digital Goyang is park city and full of total 68 neighborhood parks including the largest artificial lake park, ecological parks, cultural parks and wetland park. Citizens can enjoy the green more than any other cites. also, due to enough buffering green area, polution level is also relatively low. since 2010, city has run a bike sharing system 'fifteen' including more than 3,000bikes & 148 bike station turu entire city. As #1 smart city in Korea, Goyang has applied IoT technologies to life environment. smart safe light, safe fountain, drone patrol on the lake services are active in the park. besides, various IoT techs are used in life environment including to monitor airpollution, biomass malodor and to collect garbage from street bins.

Goyang has the largest convention/exhibition center, KINTEX. KINTEX is playing a centrol role for event sustainability. In 2011, KINTEX announced Green Business Management and set 'mid-long term plan for Green Center. Based on this plan, KINTEX has improved facilities&environment infra. In result, KINTEX achieved silver level of Earchcheck, eco-environment certificate. KINTEX was designed to use new renewable energies including geothermy, sunlight and rainwaters. especially, in everyear year, more than 5,000tons of rainwater is used in bathroom, a fountain, pond and gardening. with these system, KINTEX saved about million USD energy cost and reduced 4,000tons of green energy gas. KINTEX also parcitipate in social activities. KINTEX strongly push for event organizer to use reusable booth using eco-friendly materials to minimize disposals. Un-avoidable disposals are cleanded by local senior & disabled people community. profits from selling disposals is used for HR cost.

Goyang city was selected one of ten most dynamic city in the world by NewsWeek magazine. With environmental efforts to preserve one Korea largest marsh, city set examples for social issues in Korea. To keep peace on Korea penisula, city sent petition letters to UN and to the world to call upon their interests and took international tour for this. City sponsored UN SRC singers to play songs for the peace in DMZ. For woman's human right, city has sponsored and campigened to demand the serious apology for sexual slavery during world war 2.
