Jeopardising Our Destinations

Join us for a dynamic hour of exploring the key barriers jeopardizing destinations’ sustainable progress, and the catalysts pushing us forward. Guy Bigwood, Chief Changemaker of Global Destination Sustainability Movement, will start off our discussions by sharing the overall findings and results of the 2020 Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index. Then a quick round of jeopardy answers and questions (to get our roundtable panelists warmed up), followed by a discussion with panelists of four city destinations, each on different steps or paths of their sustainable journey, yet also with shared challenges along the way. The application of this stable funding tool and their respective successes has raised millions of dollars and promoted tourism from the smallest destination to the largest. This thought-provoking virtual summit will feature how TIDs are rethinking conventional strategies by leaning into economic shifts, creative content, experiences, and on-the-ground execution — all intending to diversify their funding streams to benefit their communities. Learn more about successful formation strategies, programs they have implemented, results they have seen, and ways they continue to evolve. Destinations looking to diversify their funding streams, who are in the TID formation process, and those who have already implemented a TID in their destination will convene to learn, collaborate, and grow this innovative funding model.
