From a young age, she had a passion for cultural heritage. This led her to study tourism and its cultural implications. She began her professional journey as a tourism consultant to develop public-private partnerships for destinations in her native Peru.

Before joining GDS-movement, Claudia was the Assurance Manager at Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), creating and implementing policies and procedures providing a recognition of standards and accreditation to sustainable tourism certification bodies.

She also served as a Tourism Specialist for the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, coordinating a sustainable tourism strategy for Machu Picchu, developing a public-private air connectivity strategy, and updating Peru´s National Tourism Strategic Plan.

Claudia has worked for the public and private sectors in a wide range of positions in Latin America and Europe leading collaborative projects in multicultural environments. The opportunity to “wear different hats” in her professional roles empowers her to be sensible about the complex task of making tourism more sustainable.

She holds a Master in Responsible Tourism Management from Leeds Beckett University, and an International Master in Innovative Hospitality Management from the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi at Ramon Llull University, Spain.

Claudia currently lives in the beautiful Cornish seaside in the United Kingdom. In her free time, she enjoys running, the cinema, and solving puzzles.

She joins GDS-Movement to lead the development of GDS-Index, supporting its benchmarking, and consulting with destinations and other industry organisations worldwide.
