Challenge
Destination Canada wanted to implement a national sustainability programme across their cities.
The Solution
Launched in 2022, the GDS-Movement and Connect Seven worked with Destination Canada to develop a national sustainable events programe for key destinations: This includes
- Benchmarking 20 cities with the GDS-Index
- Developing and delivering national DMO training programme on sustainability and impact management
- Delivering capacity development training for over 100 DMO professionals
- Facilitating storytelling coaching and training masterclass
- Enabling Peer to Peer collaboration and innovation
- Conducting program impact analysis and reporting
- Dashboard development
Results
- 60% of destination now have a Sustainability strategy with goal to achieve 90% by end 2024.
- Various awards have been achieved, including the IMEX-EIC Innovation in Sustainability award.
- In 2024 the programme is being expanded to be a joint tourism and events programme across 20+ destination
